International Women's Day

Yesterday was International Women's Day. I'm a day late, but HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!!! International Women's Day (March 8th) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world. This date is also commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday. When women on all continents, often divided by national boundaries and by ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences, come together to celebrate their Day, they can look back to a tradition that represents at least nine decades of struggle for equality, justice, peace and development.

I got the above information from here: http://www.un.org/ecosocdev/geninfo/women/womday97.htm  You can learn more about this holiday at the website as well.

For more on this holiday, Check out Wikipedia's article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Women's_Day

I want to thank ALL of the women out there who inspire, do good, encourage girls, and fight for equality.

So, How do YOU celebrate the holiday? Please share your story by replying to this entry.
